Sizzle Sack®

Sizzle Sack ® is a patented, insulated, reusable sack which uses a non-toxic heating pad and salt water solution to create a steamy, sizzling heating action.

Technical Information

Sizzle Sack is made from Kraft paper which is coated with high density polypropylene film and thick closed cell foam.  The sack has a gusseted bottom so it will stand.  The top has a leak-proof zipper seal.  A 1/4" diameter hole on one side vents steam.

Zipper Bags are 4 mil laminate barrier bags.

Heating Pads are made of a non-toxic magnesium composite.

Water Packets contain two ounces of saline solution.

How Do You  Use the Sizzle Sack?

  1. Place one heating pad flat in the bottom of Sizzle Sack

  2. Put your food or drink into the zipper bag (up to 16 ounces). Or place your unopened canned food up to 16 ounce sized can directly into the Sizzle Sack.

  3. Place the zipper bag into the Sizzle Sack.

  4. Pour one water packet into Sizzle Sack and immediately close Sizzle Sack's zipper closure.

  5. Keep Sizzle Sack upright.  Wait 15-20 minutes until steam is gone.

  6. Carefully open Sizzle Sack, remove the zipper bag (or canned food), and put your food or drink into a serving container.  Then, enjoy!

  7. Discard heating pad when cooled. Water is eliminated during the heating process.

What Can You Heat in a Sizzle Sack?

Anything you want to heat (but not cook):

  • Canned soup, stew, chili,  or vegetables

  • Leftovers from home

  • Water for instant soups, noodles, oatmeal

  • Cocoa, coffee, cider

  • MREs (Meals Ready to Eat)

Where Can You Use a Sizzle Sack?

  • In Emergencies or natural disasters when the power goes out.

  • Outdoors while backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, boating, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, pack-horse expeditions, scouting, etc.

  • While Traveling such as driving cross-country, long-haul trucking, commuting, on vacations, etc.

  • At Work for lunch at your desk, on remote job sites, or at the park.

 

 

 

Other Features and Information.

  • Sizzle sack can be stored for up to five years.  It is lightweight, easy to carry and will fit nicely into a backpack.

  • Never heat Sizzle Sack or its components in the microwave or other heating appliances.

  • Children should use Sizzle Sack only with adult supervision.

  • The heating process does not produce carbon monoxide however, it may cause carbon monoxide detectors to signal.

  • The heating process releases hot steam (between 120 - 180o F) through the port hole in top of sack. Do not put hands or face near the port hole.

  • Sizzle Sack heats 100 degrees F. above ambient temperature.  Starting temperature should be greater than 40 degrees. Results will vary depending on density and quantity of food.

  • Use in well-ventilated areas away from flame or electrical spark.

  • Do not consume or break non-toxic heating pad.
